TEAM OAM NOW/ATHLETIC MENTORS multi-sport team is a group of very talented, dedicated athletes who took on 3 early season triathlons with fantastic results. The great thing about triathlons is that they offer several options for multi-sport athletes. From sprint distance to full ironman, athletes can choose to participate in the triathlon (swim-bike-run), duathlon (run-bike-run), or even aquabike (swim-bike). Athletes can play to their strengths and preferences when choosing which distance and event in which to participate.
Our team participated in several Olympic distance events this past weekend. Olympic distance includes a swim just short of a mile, a 25 mile ride, followed by a 10K run (6.2 miles). From the start, these athletes go all out until they cross the line – exhausted, spent and happy. It is a huge accomplishment to finish, but our athletes did far more than finish!
A cold spring means cold water… but that didn’t stop our athletes from taking top honors in several categories. At Island Lake Triathlon, Robyn Kaiser took 3rd in her age group. At Seahorse Triathlon, Kathy Kirk dominated the aqua-bike taking 1st overall. And Raquel Tavares-Torres took the women’s field by storm, coming in as the first overall female triathlete! Todd Anthes and Cricket Howard competed in Bear Lake triathlon with Todd coming in 2nd in his age group and Cricket taking 3rd in his. Congratulations to the multi-sport team!
TEAM OAM NOW/ATHLETIC MENTORS had a strong start to the triathlon season. Stay tuned to hear what this talented team has in store this summer.
